Community Involvement
Our mission states it. Our actions speak it. Community
Involvement. It's how we extend our leadership role beyond EMS.
Our healthcare professionals touch the lives of thousands of people each year
through ongoing educational programs, community events and charity work. Whether
we're teaching a group of preschool children about 9-1-1 or providing free CPR training, our goal is to help make the community
a safer place to live and work.
Our community outreach efforts include:
- Donating hundreds of thousands of dollars in charitable services to the
community annually
- A generous financial commitment to the Heartland Health Clinic
- Offering generous support to the local United Way campaign
- Participating in mock vehicle accidents and other anti-drunk driving education
campaigns at local public schools
- Conducting demonstrations at local health fairs
- Providing support at local charity and sporting events
- Participating in local neighborhood, community and county events
- Providing CPR training to members of the community
- Working with schoolchildren to promote safety and health awareness with Andy the Ambulance
- Serving as the area's preeminent provider of inspection
and installation of child safety seats, as well as providing personnel
to other agencies (such as the Safe Kids Coalition and the Illinois State
Police)
- Offering a speakers bureau for area organizations, homeowners associations,
church and school groups, as well as educational and training sessions for
volunteer organizations
- Loaning automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) to the public through the
CardioReviver Loaner Program.
- Educating citizens with a Stroke Awareness Campaign that teaches how to properly recognize and react to stroke symptoms
- Providing a $30,000 gift to the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria to secure an emergency care simulator (a sophisticated, lifelike training mannequin) for training area EMTs, paramedics, ER clinicians and other first responders
