Advanced Medical Transport’s RiverMedic 1

Riverfront events, boating, jetskiing and more… there’s a lot happening on the river in Peoria. That’s why there’s a vital need for Emergency Medical Service (EMS) on the water.

Advanced Medical Transport comes to the rescue with RiverMedic 1… our rescue watercraft that carries the same lifesaving equipment as our ambulances. Essentially, RiverMedic 1 is an ambulance on the water.

With a focus on medical care and promoting safe boating practices, the RiverMedic 1 speedboat is the first rescue watercraft prepared to provide care from basic first aid to Advanced Life Support… and everything in between. Other rescue watercraft are only qualified to offer Basic Life Support.

RiverMedic 1 is staffed with 24 Paramedics and EMTs who have special training in addition to their extensive Emergency Medical Training – they completed boater safety courses offered through the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Advanced Life Saving. RiverMedic 1 works in teams of three – two rescuers and one boat operator.

The river in Peoria is attracting more people and more activities. This means more potential for emergencies! That’s why RiverMedic 1 patrols the water on weekends and holidays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
