AMT Provides CardioReviver's to 19 Schools in Tazewell County

Advanced Medical Transport, through its CardioReviver Grant Program, has provided a total of 19 schools in Tazewell County with AEDs (automatic external defibrillators) since 2002 when the program was initiated.

Advanced Medical Transport has made over a $1 million commitment to bringing access to defibrillators to the communities we serve. Schools that have received a defibrillator include public and private schools in Pekin, Morton, Marquette Heights, and Washington.

Besides schools, AMT has also provided many defibrillators to be used in public buildings, police departments, park districts, churches, and other not-for-profits.

In 2006, emphasis has been on making the AEDs available to the school districts since the State of Illinois passed legislation requiring that all schools install a defibrillator in or near a physical education facility, such as gymnasium, aquatic center, ballfields, tracks, etc.

Medics to the Rescue... On Two Wheels

Advanced Medical Transport launched their latest means of providing emergency care at a crowded event on Sunday, August 12th at the Peoria TT Motorcycle Races.

Realizing that it is extremely difficult to reach a patient in a large crowd, such as a parade, fireworks display, motorcycle races, etc., AMT has created a bicycle medics team to respond at these outdoor events.

Several highly trained, skilled personnel have volunteered to comprise the bicycle team. According to Rex Comerford, Operations Coach at AMT, "The enthusiasm for this innovative program among the crews is phenomenal. They have actually brought the idea forward, helped choose all the equipment, and have been a huge part of developing the procedures."

AMT prides itself on being on the cutting edge when it comes to providing emergency medical care, and this "team" is one more tool in delivering the best patient care possible.

The bicycles are equipped with heart monitors, defibrillators, blood glucose monitors, oxygen, and bandages, as well as other standard first aid materials - all retrofitted in the saddlebags.

Besides being able to respond quickly to any emergency, the bicycles also give the paramedics an opportunity to educate the public in the latest technology available to handle any emergency.
