1. Submission of Application / Credentials
Applications/Resumes may be submitted online, by mail or in person at 1718 N. Sterling Avenue, Peoria, Illinois.
2. Successful completion of Peoria Area EMS System Testing Process
Paramedic and EMT candidates must contact the Peoria Area EMS office for information on the testing process.
3. Credentials Verification & Background Review
AMT will conduct an employment review, certification review and a criminal background check on all candidates who qualify for the position.
4. Candidate Interview
Following verification of credentials and references, candidates will be scheduled for an interview with the appropriate department manager.
5. Candidate Ride-along Opportunity
Paramedic and EMT candidates will be asked to schedule a ride-along with one of our crews. Since we believe employment is of mutual consent, a ride-along provides a candidate the opportunity to interview AMT.
6. Employment Offer, Terms & Conditions
Successful candidates will receive a written offer confirming the terms and conditions of employment including wages, benefits and a comprehensive orientation plan.
7. Post Offer, Pre-employment Screening
Following an offer of employment, candidates will be scheduled for a health examination, agility test and a toxicological screening.
8. Comprehensive Orientation Program
Covers operations, communications, workplace safety, disaster management, and emergency driving.
